Filmsaaz
Filmsaaz فیلمساز is a director, music producer and a DJ. Their latest album, murmur_politique, features engaging and politically charged queer sonatas, such as the experimental banger on est plus chauds que les hétéros (we’re hotter than straight people). At L’Abri, Filmsaaz wants to focus on their music production, without giving up on attending film festivals. Filmsaaz is a prolific multitasker, dividing their time between Geneva, Paris and Tourcoing.
Saleh Kashefi (b. 1999, Tehran), also known as Filmsaaz, is an audiovisual composer in exile, weaving connections between the breath of cinema and the echo of music. Through intimate works born from modest means, they explore the friction of sharp dualities—trauma and healing, toxic masculinity and queerness, hate and compassion—shaping a language that is at once radical and imbued with youth.
A recipient of the Prince Claus Seed Award and an associated artist at l’Abri, Filmsaaz has brought forth dozens of audiovisual works carried across international festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Locarno, Visions du Réel, IDFA, and FID.
Filmsaaz’s music is marked by looping melodies, reflecting a luminous nostalgia, and by a generous use of sampling that lends it a cinematic aura. Having released numerous mixes, singles, and albums, they have performed across various venues worldwide. Their debut LP harmony/disharmony was released in 2025, while their first feature-length film, the audiovisual opera Wolfgang, premiered at IFFR in 2026.
